Day 1 - Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu (1N)

Altitude: Paro (2,250m) to Thimphu (2,350m)
Highlight: Tschogang Lhakhang, Chuzom, Tashichho Dzong, and King’s Memorial Chorten

Welcome to Bhutan, the land of the Thunder Dragon!
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, meet your local guide and driver. Drive toward Thimphu, the capital city. En route, stop at Tschogang Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the “Excellent Horse.” Pause at Chuzom, where three distinct styles of stupas—Bhutanese, Nepalese, and Tibetan—stand at the river confluence.
In Thimphu, visit the majestic Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the Bhutanese government and monastic body, followed by a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, dedicated to Bhutan’s third king.

Day 2 - Thimphu – Punakha (1N)

Altitude: 2,350m to 1,200m
Highlight: Dochula Pass, Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang

After breakfast, head to Punakha, crossing the picturesque Dochula Pass (3,100m), where you can view 108 chortens and the Himalayas on a clear day. Descend to the fertile Punakha Valley.
Visit the striking Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho and Mo Chu rivers, known for its brilliant architecture and historical significance. Then walk through fields to reach Chimi Lhakhang, the “Fertility Temple” built in honor of Lama Drukpa Kunley.

Day 3 - Punakha – Gangtey (1N)

Altitude: 1,200m to 2,900m
Highlight: Phobjikha Valley, Gangtey Monastery

Drive to Phobjikha Valley, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful glacial valleys, famous for its pristine environment and the endangered black-necked cranes (best seen in winter).
Take a nature walk through the valley’s pine forests and quaint villages. Visit the tranquil Gangtey Monastery, a revered Nyingma institution perched on a hilltop.

Day 4 - Gangtey – Bumthang via Trongsa (2N)

Altitude: 2,900m to 2,600m
Highlight: Scenic drive, Pele La Pass, Trongsa Dzong

Embark on a longer scenic drive to Bumthang, the spiritual heart of Bhutan. Pass the Pele La Pass and reach Trongsa, where you’ll visit the impressive Trongsa Dzong, ancestral seat of Bhutan’s royal family.
Continue to Bumthang, known for its deeply spiritual ambiance and temple-studded valleys.

Day 5 - Bumthang Cultural Exploration

Altitude: 2,600m
Highlight: Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Tamshing Monastery

Start your day visiting sacred sites: Kurjey Lhakhang, where Guru Rinpoche left his body imprint, Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and Tamshing Monastery, renowned for its ancient murals and iron chain vest worn by the founder, Pema Lingpa.
Take an optional walk to a traditional farmhouse to interact with locals and sample ara, Bhutanese rice wine.
Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 6 - Bumthang – Paro (3N)

Altitude: 2,600m to 2,250m
Highlight: Domestic flight, Paro town tour

Take a domestic flight back to Paro, enjoying aerial views of Bhutan’s stunning terrain. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxed walking tour of Paro town, exploring traditional shops and cafes.

Day 7 - Paro Sightseeing

Altitude: 2,250m
Highlight: Rinpung Dzong, National Museum, Kyichu Lhakhang

Visit Rinpung Dzong, the fortress of the heap of jewels. Then explore the National Museum (Ta Dzong) to delve into Bhutanese history and art. End the day at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century.

Day 8 - Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Altitude: 3,100m
Highlight: Taktsang Monastery

Embark on a memorable half-day hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), precariously perched on a cliffside. The monastery is one of Bhutan’s most iconic spiritual sites, offering spectacular views and spiritual serenity.
Enjoy a well-deserved rest afterward or a light cultural program at your hotel.

Day 9 - Optional Excursions Around Paro

Altitude: 2,250m – 3,800m (Chele La)
Highlight: Chele La Pass or Hot Stone Bath

Take a drive to Chele La Pass (3,800m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, offering panoramic views of Mount Jomolhari. Alternatively, opt for a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath and unwind.

Day 10 - Departure from Paro

After breakfast, your guide and driver will escort you to Paro International Airport for your departure. Farewell and tashi delek!
