Rangjung Woesel Chhoeling Monastery, commonly known as Rangjung Monastery, is a prominent Buddhist monastery located near the town of Rangjung, approximately 16 kilometers east of Trashigang. Founded in 1989 by Garab Rinpoche, a highly respected Nyingmapa master and a recognized reincarnation of the renowned Terton Lerab Lingpa, it has quickly grown to become one of the most important centers for Nyingmapa Buddhist studies and practice in eastern Bhutan.
The monastery is known for its beautiful architecture, adorned with intricate traditional Bhutanese murals and statues. It serves as a spiritual training ground for hundreds of monks, providing a comprehensive education in Buddhist philosophy, rituals, and meditation. Visitors are welcome to observe the daily routines of the monks, participate in prayer ceremonies, or simply soak in the serene and highly spiritual atmosphere of this thriving monastic institution.
