  Central

Central Bhutan is often regarded as the spiritual and cultural heart of the kingdom. Encompassing the districts of Trongsa and Bumthang, this region is renowned for its sacred temples, historic dzongs, and deep-rooted Buddhist traditions. It offers a serene and immersive experience for travelers seeking a deeper connection to Bhutan’s religious and cultural legacy.

Bumthang, often called the “Switzerland of Bhutan,” is a high-altitude valley made up of four smaller valleys—Chokhor, Tang, Ura, and Chhume. It is home to some of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples, including Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, and Tamshing Goemba. The region hosts unique and colorful festivals such as Jambay Lhakhang Drup and Ura Yakchoe, drawing pilgrims from across the country. Trongsa, on the other hand, is historically significant as the ancestral home of Bhutan’s royal family. Its impressive Trongsa Dzong strategically perched on a ridge, was once the seat of power for rulers before they ascended to the throne.

With its mix of sacred heritage, rolling landscapes, and peaceful rural life, Central Bhutan offers a deeply enriching experience—perfect for those seeking spirituality, tradition, and a slower pace of exploration amid untouched natural beauty.
