Your Bhutan Experience Starts Right Here
Uncover the magic and mystery of beautiful Bhutan.
Chele La Pass is Bhutan’s highest motorable pass, situated at an elevation of approximately 3,988 meters (13,083 feet) above sea level, connecting the valleys of Paro and Haa. The drive to the pass is an attraction in itself, winding through pristine forests of blue pine, fir, and oak, eventually giving way to alpine meadows. The pass is famously adorned with countless colorful prayer flags, fluttering vigorously in the wind and adding to its spiritual ambiance.
From Chele La Pass, visitors are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan ranges, including the sacred peaks of Mount Jomolhari (7,314 m) and Jichu Drake (6,794 m). It’s a popular spot for photography, short walks, and simply soaking in the incredible mountain scenery. The ridge also offers opportunities for spotting rare Himalayan flowers (like the blue poppy in season) and various pheasant species, making it a favorite for nature enthusiasts.
