Your Bhutan Experience Starts Right Here
Uncover the magic and mystery of beautiful Bhutan.
Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten is a stunning and intricately designed stupa situated on a ridge overlooking the scenic Punakha Valley, providing breathtaking views of the Mo Chhu River and the surrounding rice paddies. This unique chorten was commissioned by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck and completed in 2004. Unlike other chortens that primarily contain relics, this chorten was built specifically to promote peace, stability, and harmony in the world and to ward off negative forces.
The chorten is a remarkable example of Bhutanese architecture and artistic tradition, with each of its three stories filled with elaborate statues, intricate murals, and sacred mandalas. It is believed to represent the mind of the Buddha and was constructed according to ancient holy scriptures, without the use of modern engineering manuals. A moderate hike through rice fields and across a suspension bridge is required to reach it, making the journey an enjoyable part of the spiritual experience.
